LoveFrom
In 2019, Sir Jony Ive left Apple after 27 years to found LoveFrom — a creative collective with a different model, a different mandate, and an eye fixed firmly on the future.
LoveFrom is not a conventional design studio. It is a collective — a small, deliberate group of designers, makers, and thinkers who choose their work carefully and pursue it with the intensity that Ive brought to Apple for nearly three decades.
Since its founding in 2019, LoveFrom has worked with Airbnb on the future of belonging, with Ferrari on the next chapter of automotive design, and — in its most consequential engagement — with OpenAI on the physical interface for artificial intelligence.
LoveFrom has remained intentionally private about much of its work. The studio does not seek the spotlight. The work, when it arrives, speaks for itself.

The work: a new generation of AI-native devices. Ambient. Screenless. Aware of the world around them. Designed not to capture attention but to be worthy of it.
The first OpenAI device will not have a screen. It is designed to reduce dependency on glass rectangles, not deepen it. The interaction model is ambient, voice-first, and contextually aware.
The device uses cameras and microphones to understand its environment — the objects on a table, the conversations in a room, the context of a moment — and responds intelligently to requests without requiring a screen interaction.
Ive and Altman have described the device as "peaceful" — a deliberate counterpoint to the notification-driven anxiety of smartphones. The device should help you, not demand your attention. Calm computing, realized.
"I am reminded of a time, three decades ago, when I emigrated to America. As a designer, I was drawn to the exhilarating and innocent optimism of Silicon Valley, to collaborate with people driven to create amazing products that elevate humanity."
— Sir Jony Ive, on the OpenAI partnership, 2025
